For officials

The right official at every game, with a reason

Officials say when they can work. League admins assign from people who can make the game. Reports lock when filed. Every item here is planned.

Officials are planned, not built

Everything on this page is a plan, not a built feature. Here is what we intend to build.

Two sides

For the official, and for the person who assigns

The app shows “Referee,” “Umpire,” or the word your sport uses.

On the roadmap

If you officiate

  1. Join through an invite from the league, and list the credentials you hold.
  2. Set weekly hours and dates you are away. Any time you have not marked counts as unavailable.
  3. Get each assignment with teams, time, venue, and uniform colors. Accept or decline before the deadline.
  4. Open the game to see both teams, the venue, and the rest of the crew.
  5. File the report after the game.
On the roadmap

If you assign officials

  1. Set the credentials each game needs, by game type.
  2. Assign by hand from a list of officials who are free and qualified. The list puts whoever has worked least this month first.
  3. Or draft a whole weekend at once, then review it.
  4. See who accepted, who declined, and who has not answered.
  5. Review reports, ask for a fix, or send one to a committee.

Bulk assignment

A full weekend, drafted with reasons

A rules engine drafts an official for every slot. No AI is involved. The admin reviews every row before anyone hears about it.

  • A reason on every row.

    On the roadmap

Each pick says why, like “Maria: Grade 6 referee, available, 2 games this month versus Carlos’s 4.”

  • Lock what you like.

    On the roadmap

Lock the picks you want to keep, then re-run only the rest.

  • Conflict rules.

    On the roadmap

Nobody officiates their own team. An official can ask never to work their home team’s games. Two officials who should not work together are kept apart.

  • An unfilled list.

    On the roadmap

Slots the engine cannot fill are listed, each with its reason.

  • Private until approved.

    On the roadmap

Officials see nothing until the admin approves the draft.

When plans change

Changes reach every official

The system tracks each answer, so nobody relies on a text thread.

  • On the roadmap

    A deadline to answer.

No answer by the deadline marks the assignment No-answer and alerts the admin.

  • On the roadmap

    Reschedules ask again.

A moved game sends every assignment back for a new answer.

  • On the roadmap

    Withdrawals raise an alert.

If an official drops out, the admin hears at once, and the game shows a “find a replacement” banner.

  • On the roadmap

    Credentials stay current.

A nightly check flags any assignment whose credential has expired.

Reports

Reports that lock when filed

The report records the result, cards, and incidents in the same format every time.

  • Reminders until filed.

    On the roadmap

A report card appears when the game ends. Reminders follow, and the admin hears if it is a week late.

  • Locked on submit.

    On the roadmap

A later fix becomes a dated, signed amendment. The original stays visible.

  • Card totals add up.

    On the roadmap

Cards roll up per player for the season, so nobody counts by hand.

  • Private to admins.

    On the roadmap

Players and captains do not see reports in the first version.

Limits

What the first version will not do

The first version leaves these out.

  • No pay for officials.

There are no rate cards or payouts in the first version.

  • No self-assigning.

Officials cannot claim open games in the first version.

  • No certificate checks.

Credentials are records the league keeps. We do not verify them with outside bodies.

  • No text messages.

Notices go through the app and email.
